The Moon's Many Moods

The moon's relationship with the earth and with all that lives on it has long fascinated me. Even now, I can't stand looking up at that nocturnal orb without being mesmerized. Is it its pale glow that entrances, or the fact that it hangs faithfully in the night sky through all its permutations? Not only does the moon play a huge role in nature's processes, but it also presents us with an endless array of opportunities to marvel at it and to capture its image on camera.

There is no end to the moods it displays given its surroundings at any given time, be it at dusk, at midnight, or at dawn. On its own, it's a powerful reminder of the eternal quality of the universe in which we live. And with other elements of nature, it interacts comfortably and seamlessly to inspire us even more.

Here are a few photos I've taken of it at different times...early evening, dark night, and during an eclipse...full, half, or even just a crescent, the moon never ceases to enthrall me.
